FALMOUTH, ME — January 6, 2005 —Launch Momentum LLC, a company that helps technology innovators create value and accelerate the process of turning their ideas into successful businesses, has contracted with Intelligent Spatial Technologies (IST), an Orono, ME-based company that develops GPS-based, location-enabled mobile digital guides and applications. IST has chosen Launch Momentum to help it determine the most profitable markets, solidify its technology, and speed its commercialization process.

IST’s technology uses orientation and location sensors to deliver location-based services (LBS), which enable users to "browse" in the environment and receive information about objects of interest by simply pointing at them. LBS applications are mobile, flexible, and up to the minute, which makes them desirable for a variety of markets. As the first step of three in the commercialization process, Launch Momentum will determine which markets to target for IST’s technology.

“The LBS industry is dynamic and fast-growing, with the market for GPS-related products currently estimated at $12 billion. IST’s technology has tremendous potential,” says Mark Waite, president of Launch Momentum. “We will use our business development, marketing, financial, and engineering expertise to enable IST to quickly establish a market position and develop a solid framework for rapid growth.” The terms of the deal call for Launch Momentum to perform marketing, business development, and engineering tasks and take active, interim leadership roles.
